Jewelry handmade from dried prickly pear cactus fiber. Each piece is made with a solid metal copy of an actual section of cactus fiber.
These handmade small teardrop cactus earrings are inspired by the desert and cast from actual skeletons of Prickly Pear cactus (skeleton closeup shown). Using the lost wax casting process, each piece starts with a carefully selected section of Prickly Pear skeleton, which is then hand cast using recycled sterling silver.
Lila Clare Jewelry has been making unique jewelry from the dried cellulose skeleton of the prickly pear cactus since 2010.

Jewelry made from the desert
Each cactus piece is handmade using a lost wax casting process.
First, I carefully select a section of prickly pear cactus skeleton. That skeleton is molded, then silver or gold is poured into the mold. The result is a solid metal replica of the cactus skeleton, which is then made into a piece of desert-inspired jewelry.
Each eco-friendly piece uses 100% recycled sterling silver or gold.
