Gold Cactus Band Ring

Jewelry made from the desert

Each cactus piece is handmade using a lost wax casting process.

  1. I choose section of dried prickly pear cactus fiber (yep, the dried cellulose from inside the cactus).
  2. I make a mold of that piece of cactus fiber, then pour silver or gold into the mold.
  3. The result is a solid metal copy of the cactus fiber, which I then made into a unique piece of jewelry.

artisan made

Hi, I'm Clare, owner and maker of Lila Clare Jewelry. I make each piece of jewelry from the actual dried fibrous skeleton of the prickly pear cactus, resulting in artisan jewelry made in and from the southwestern desert. I have been making these unique jewelry pieces from the cactus skeleton since 2010.
